The tubes were made of oxidation and deformation resistant vulcanized butyl rubber. Unlike traditional solutions used in old-type inner tubes or e.g. bicycle inner tubes, butyl inner tubes are definitely more durable and accurate. In addition, they show much greater resistance to puncture due to friction. In butyl rubber tubes it is much easier to seat a valve that does not break out when the tube moves in the tire, especially when driving at reduced pressure.
